Q:

MY PARENTS ARE DIVORCED, HOW SHOULD WE WORD THE INVITATION
IF THEY'RE PAYING FOR IT?

Figuring out the wording based on the parents' marital status and who is paying for the wedding is our #1 FAQ.
Refer to our Etiquette Guide for more information on how to word the trickiest of situations.

Q:

WHOSE NAME GOES FIRST?

Typically, the bride's name is listed on the invitation first, then the groom's.
If it's a same gender wedding, then whomever likes to go first!

Q:

SHOULD WE SPELL OUT OUR WEDDING DATE?

For a more formal look, we suggest writing out the date and time. For example, June 6, 2015 would be written Saturday, the Sixth of June, Two Thousand and Fifteen. Double digit dates beyond the "teens" require a hyphen (e.g. Twenty-Second of June).

Q:

SHOULD WE WRITE OUT THE TIME TOO?

Yes, your wording is about consistency. If you spelled out the date, then the time should be too. For example, a 6:30pm ceremony would read: "at Six Thirty in the Evening". Another example, a 3:00pm ceremony could be written: "Three O'Clock in the Afternoon".

When does the evening begin?
Here's a time period cheat sheet:
Morning 12:00 AM - 11:59 AM
Afternoon 12:00 PM - 5:59 PM
Evening 6:00 PM - 11:59 PM

Q:

SHOULD WE PUT THE ADDRESS AND ZIP CODE OF OUR VENUE ON OUR INVITATION?

Keep things simple by providing the venue name along with the city and state in which it is located
(don't forget to spell out the state!). Zip codes are for mail delivery purposes and need only belong on your envelopes.
